It is among the largest settlements of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization and one of the earliest major urban settlements. Its planned layout and the buildings and facilities are indicative of a great level of social organization of its time.
What's interesting is that the Nazca desert, the Great Pyramid of Egypt, and the Easter Island are situated along the same straight line on the globe. And Mohenjo-daro, Petra, and the capital of ancient Persia are located within a degree of this alignment.
